College Auditions: The Student Perspective, Part I

Hometown: Palmyra, Maine Age: 17 We asked them the following questions as they finish up their prescreens and get ready for the busy audition season ahead. When did you decide you wanted to study musical theatre performance in college? Anna : When I qualified for the national round of National Association of Teachers of Singing Musical Theatre competition as a Sophomore. It was the first time in my life that I felt like I might actually be able to succeed in something. I knew in that moment after I competed that I wanted to study musical theatre forever. Maleah : For as long as I can remember I’ve always had a strong interest in music, my desire to perform theatrically started develop when I was in middle school. As I grew more experienced in my craft my passion for it only grew and I believe by the time I was a freshman I had my sights set on making a career for myself in musical theatre, so that’s they I really decided to study in college.
